On June 8, 2026, the Kyoto Sea DMO (Kyoto Prefecture Northern Region Inter-Municipal Cooperation Promotion Company) announced that it will operate a direct express bus service from JR Kyoto Station (Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City) to the scenic Amanohashidate area in Miyazu City and the surrounding boathouse district of Ine Town, Kyoto Prefecture, from July 1st to September 30th.
Due to the increase in foreign visitors, local bus routes are becoming overcrowded with tourists. This direct service, which was briefly operated in 2017 before the COVID-19 pandemic, is being revived with the aim of mitigating tourism-related pollution.
The direct bus service will be entrusted to Tango Kairiku Kotsu (Yosano-cho, Kyoto Prefecture). There will be one round trip per day, departing Kyoto Station at 8:20 AM, passing through the Kyoto Tango Railway Amanohashidate Station and Motoise Kono Shrine in Miyazu City, and arriving at the Ine Bay sightseeing boat pier in Ine Town. The journey takes 2 hours and 45 minutes. The return bus from Ine to Kyoto Station departs at 4:42 PM.
Tango Kairiku Kotsu is currently operating a direct bus service connecting Kyoto Station and the Tango area, aiming to increase its transport capacity. Reservations are accepted on their website. The fare from Kyoto to Ine is 4,000 yen one way, and 4,200 yen during peak season.
