About 10,000 sunflowers are currently in full bloom in the Rokujunai district of Kamikoda, Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture. From a viewing platform set up by local residents, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the field blanketed in yellow.
The field is located approximately 200 meters west of JR Kamikawaguchi Station. It has been cultivated since 2019 on a 15-are plot of previously abandoned farmland by a local group called the "Rokujunai Beautification Association." The project is popular, attracting hundreds of visitors each year.
According to the association, growing conditions were initially poor due to intense heat and a lack of rain, but rainfall on July 27 triggered a vibrant, simultaneous bloom. The flowers are expected to remain at their peak until around August 2. Representative Shinsuke Kobayashi (62 years old) said, "Since the field is right next to the train tracks, you can photograph the sunflowers together with passing trains. I hope people enjoy taking all kinds of photos."
Admission is free. Open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
