On May 19, 2024, a duck that grew up in Yohoji Temple in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, successfully completed its ''move'' to the nearby Kamogawa River. In the absence of the mother duck, the six ducklings walked about 700 meters under the watchful eye of local residents and police officers from Kyoto Prefectural Police's Kawabata Police Station.

Ducks have been breeding at Seiryo Pond in Yohoji Temple since 2005, and their migration has become a tradition around this time of year. On this day, we left the pond at 10:15am. In the light rain, we walked along Niomon-dori until we reached Kawabata-dori, crossed the pedestrian crossing, and entered the river from the riverbed near Nijo Ohashi Bridge, which took about three hours.

Residents watched the ducks safely arrive at the river with relieved looks on their faces.
