立命館大学の島村純さん（22歳、京都市右京区）と滋賀大学の徳永朋大さん（22歳、京都府長岡京市）が2023年12月、東京で開かれた「こま」の世界大会の異なる部門で、それぞれチャンピオンになった。2人が所属する団体が2024年3月、全国大会を京都市で開く。こま競技のレベルアップと楽しさを広めるのが目的で「子どもの頃に多くの人が遊んだこまのイメージを変えたい」と参加を呼びかけている。

Jun Shimamura of Ritsumeikan University (22 years old, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City) and Tomohiro Tokunaga of Shiga University (22 years old, Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture) participated in the world ''spinning top'' competition held in Tokyo in December 2023. They were champions in different divisions. The organization they belong to will hold a national convention in March 2024 in Kyoto. The aim is to raise the level of top competitions and spread the fun of them, and they are calling for participation, saying, ''I want to change the image of tops that many people played with when they were children.''
