祇園祭の前祭（7月17日）を前に、組み上がった山鉾を動かす「曳き初め」が2023年7月12日、京都市内中心部で始まった。再建70年の節目にあたる菊水鉾は、堂々たる威容で室町通を進んだ。函谷や長刀、鶏、菊水、月の各鉾も、多くの観光客などが参加して曳き初めを行った。

Before the Gion Matsuri festival (July 17th), the Hikizome, which moves the assembled Yamaboko, began on July 12th, 2023 in the center of Kyoto city. The Kikusui-hoko, which marks the 70th anniversary of its reconstruction, marched through Muromachi-dori with a majestic appearance. Hakoya, naginata, chicken, Kikusui, and Tsuki-no-hoko floats were also carried out with the participation of many tourists.

祗園祭（7 月 17 日）之前，移動組裝好的山車的曳引活動於 2023 年 7 月 12 日在京都市中心開始。 迎來重建70週年的菊水報工以雄偉的姿態在室町通行進。 箱屋花車、薙刀花車、雞花車、菊水花車、月之馱花車等也有很多遊客參與。
