琵琶湖の水位低下で滋賀県長浜市湖北町延勝寺の湖岸にある小島「奥の洲（す）」が陸続きになる光景が出現して住民や観光客を珍しがらせている。
奥の洲は沖合約200メートルにあり、水位がマイナス50～60センチ程度になると岸から延びる中州が出現する。
湾に浮かぶ島が岸とつながっているフランスの景勝地になぞらえて「モンサンミッシェルみたい」と口にする人もいるという。
