On April 5, 2025, when cherry blossoms reached their peak, famous spots in Kyoto Prefecture were crowded with people. In Kyoto City, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and cherry blossom viewers enjoyed the spring scenery under clear skies.

At the Keage Incline in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, rows of cherry trees with white blossoms formed multiple arches on both sides of the rails that once lifted and lowered boats on the Lake Biwa Canal. Families and tourists were taking photos and enjoying strolls.

A 61-year-old company employee from Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, who visited with his family of three and was visiting Kyoto at this time of year for the first time in 40 years, said happily, "I'm glad we came at a good time. It matches the atmosphere of the railway tracks well."

According to the Kyoto Regional Meteorological Observatory, this year's full bloom was one day later than usual.
