A "Snowshoe Hike" exploring the winter Oeyama mountain range will be held on January 25th and February 8th, 2026. Participants are being recruited to walk through the snow-covered forest.
The event is organized by the Oeyama Onikko no Kai, a group of nature lovers from northern Kyoto Prefecture. Participants will walk on the snow using snowshoes and walking poles.
The course on both days starts and ends at Oeyama Green Lodge in Oe-cho, Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture. On January 25th, it is a 5-kilometer round trip to the summit of Hatoga Mine (elevation 746 meters), and on February 8th, it is a 4-kilometer round trip to Onidake Inari Shrine (elevation 640 meters). The walking time is 4-5 hours.
This event is open to junior high school students and above, and participants must gather at 8:30 AM on both days. The participation fee is 4,000 yen (7,000 yen for a set of two). Snowshoes are also available for rental (1,000 yen). The Yosano Town Tourism Association in Kyoto Prefecture, which handles reservations, urges visitors to "experience the rich nature of Mt.
