京都市下京区の西本願寺で2023年12月20日、1年のほこりを払う「おすす払い（すす払い）」が行われた。門徒らが竹の棒で畳をたたき、舞い上がったほこりをうちわで屋外に送り出し、新年を迎える準備を整えた。

On December 20, 2023, "Osusuharai（Susuharai、meaning ''big cleaning''）" was held at Nishi Honganji Temple in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City to dust off the past year. The disciples pounded the tatami mats with bamboo sticks and used fans to blow the dust outside, preparing to welcome the new year.
