On May 3, 2024, ''Tahara no Onda'', a nationally designated important intangible folk cultural property, was held at Taji Shrine in Hiyoshi-cho, Nantan City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is said to have been going on since the late Kamakura period, and two male parishioners, ''Sakutaro'' and ''Sakujiro,'' perform a one-hour performance depicting a year of rice cultivation, with playful dialogue and humorous gestures. During the rice planting, four elementary school students playing the role of Saotome performed the gesture of planting calamus, which looked like seedlings, to the tune of a rice planting song.
