夏越祭は7月1日の吉符入から1ヶ月に渡って行われた祇園祭を締めくくる最後の行事で、疫（えき）神社の神前に粟餅を供え、鳥居に茅の輪（ちのわ）を設けて、厄除・無病息災を祈願する。

The Nagoshi-sai marks the conclusion of the Gion Festival, which spans a full month starting with the *Kippu-iri* ceremony on July 1. During the festival, offerings of millet cakes are made at the Eki-jinja altar, and a *chinowa* (a large ring made of cogon grass) is set up in the torii gate; participants pass through the ring to pray for protection against misfortune and for continued good health.

2026年7月31日，作為今年祗園祭的壓軸大戲－夏越祭，在京都市東山區八坂神社內的驛神社舉行。
夏越祭是祗園祭的最終環節，祗園祭自7月1日開始，持續一個月之久。祭典期間，人們會在驛神社的神明面前供奉小米糕，在鳥居處豎起蘆葦圈，祈求辟邪保佑身體健康。

교토시 히가시야마구의 야사카 신사에 있는 역신사에서 2026년 7월 31일, 올해의 기온 축제에서 마지막 행사가 되는 「나츠고시 축제」가 행해졌다.
나츠고시 축제는 7월 1일의 길표입으로부터 1개월에 걸쳐 행해진 기온 축제를 마무리하는 마지막 행사로, 역(에키) 신사의 신전에 어떡을 제공해, 도리이에 치노와(치노와)를 마련해, 액제·무병식재를 기원한다.
