The Sone no Ozakura in Kyotanba-cho, Kyoto Prefecture, which is said to be over 100 years old, is in full bloom. The large tree, about 15 meters tall, is dyed in a single color of cherry blossoms and stands out against the blue sky.

The tree is located along the prefectural road, Hiyama Suchi Line, about 500 meters northwest of the roadside station Kyotanba Ajimu no Sato at the Kyotanba Parking Area on the Kyoto Longitudinal Expressway.
Due to the continued cold weather, the cherry blossoms bloomed in April, later than usual. They can be enjoyed until this weekend.
A man in his 40s from Ayabe-shi, Kyoto Prefecture, said, "I learned about it through Kyotanba-cho's social media. It's the first time I've seen such a large, splendid cherry tree," as he took pictures on his smartphone.
Local residents continue to look after the area by cutting the grass and protecting it, and have also set off areas off-limits to prevent damage to the roots.
