On September 5, 2023, the Kyoto City Tourism Association began selling paid tickets for the Jidai Festival (October 22). This year, for the first time, front-row seats are available. It is said that it responded to requests from people who wanted to see the procession up close and take pictures.

There will be approximately 7,400 seats in total, approximately 4,400 for individuals and 3,000 for groups, at three locations: Kyoto Gyoen National Garden, Oike-dori between Kawaramachi and Tominokoji-dori, and Heian Jingu-michi. All seats are reserved and come with a pamphlet and an original commemorative plaque.
Seats in the front row are 4,500 yen, and seats in the second and subsequent rows are 3,500 yen. Heian-Jingu-michi has “learning seats” where you can listen to the commentary with earphones. A portion of the sales will be provided as a subsidy to the Jidai Matsuri Sponsor Association.
From 10:00 a.m. on September 5, tickets can be purchased online at Ticket Pia, Lawson, and E-plus, as well as convenience stores at Seven-Eleven, Lawson, and Family Mart. Learning seats are available only at Ticket Pia.
