"Gion Odori,'' a performance that colors the autumn of the red light district Gion Higashi, began on November 1, 2023 at the Gion Kaikan Hall in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. A large number of foreign tourists also watched the show, captivated by the gorgeous dances of the geisha and maiko.

This year's theme is "Kashinshukure Iitsunosekku", which is based on Japanese festivals, starting with "Nanakusa" in January, "Peach Festival", "Carp Waterfall Climbing", " Geisha and maiko express five scenes from Tanabata and the Chrysanthemum Festival through theatrical dances. Japanese customs were introduced through dance, with geishas dancing lightly as if they were drunk as peach blossoms floating in white sake, and maikos magnificently unfurling decorations in the shape of chrysanthemums.

The finale was the annual Gion Higashi Kouta, which sings about famous places in Gion Higashi, and all the geisha and maiko danced to it, which received a huge round of applause from the audience.
There will be two performances at 1:30pm and 4pm until November 10th. 6,000 yen (7,000 yen with tea ceremony).
