On January 20, 2024, the opening ceremony of the Reizei family, the head of the Japanese poetry family who continues the 800-year tradition of waka poetry, was held at the Reizei family residence in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City. The disciples performed songs in an ancient style and enjoyed the first chant.

Approximately 90 people from all over the country gathered for the New Year's event of the Reizei family, whose distant ancestors are Fujiwara Toshinari and Fujiwara Sadaie.
This year's title is "Harunokohori". Dressed in Heian costumes such as Kariginu and Keiko, the 25th head of the family, Mr. Tamehito Reizei, and seven others recited waka in a unique tone with rich intonation, followed by the disciples chanting in harmony. Ta. Mr. Tamehito expressed the joy of spring in his song, saying, ''The spring breeze melts the ice in the valley, and the voice of the nightingale sounds like a first sound.''
The participants, who attended an impromptu ceremony of chanting, tackled the title ''Matsu-no Yuki.'' As they slowly rubbed the ink and thought about it, they each ran their brushes on the washi paper.
