On February 21, 2024, a rehearsal for the joint performance ''Soushun Yumebutai'' by the five Kyoto Hanamachi groups took place at the Minamiza Theater in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. Maiko and young geisha who will be performing participated in final rehearsals for Hayashi and dance.
This event has been held by the Kyoto Hanamachi Hospitality Culture Promotion Council since 2022 as part of an effort to have the Japan Heritage designation candidate ''Hospitality Culture - Kyoto's Hanamachi Passed Down Through the Ages'' recognized as a heritage site.
Gion Higashi performs the Nagauta ''Hinazuru Sanbaso'', Miyagawa Town performs the Nagauta without dance called ''Toko'', Gion Kobu performs the Kamigata song ''Hakushuuri'', and Pontocho performs the Nagauta ''Hakushuuri''. "Shima no Chitose" and Kamishichiken will perform the Nagauta "Tenasuko" respectively.
The geishas and maikos performed the performance as in the real performance, receiving minor corrections from their masters in their movements and standing positions. Chikaharu Chika, a geisha from Miyagawa Town who plays the flute, and Uta no Fukuen said, ''The young people have been practicing together, so it would be great if the audience could see what they were doing.'' I think so,” he said.
Twice on February 23rd at 1pm and 4pm. First class seats are 7,000 yen, second class seats are 3,000 yen. Tickets will be sold on the day at Minamiza from 10am.
