Due to the cold and humid air, Kyoto City was covered in snow on the morning of March 21, 2024. Snow continued to fall in the Kurama area of Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, and people were seen shoveling snow.

Near Kurama Temple, the bright vermilion Niomon gate and lanterns were covered in snow. People walking nearby were careful not to slip, but the children cheered, "Fuwafuwa!" and enjoyed the feel of the fresh snow under their feet as they walked.
