Maizuru Fururu Farm, an agricultural park in Sezaki, Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture, sells four types of cakes, including cherry blossom-themed cheesecakes and roll cakes. The light pink color is made using cherry blossom petals and cherry blossoms, creating a finish that lets you feel ''spring'' through the food.
Furu Farm has a restaurant and a confectionery workshop. Even after the coronavirus pandemic is over, some people find it difficult to go out due to infection prevention measures, so the idea was to give people a sense of spring with a cherry blossom cake that can be used as a souvenir or gift.
The cherry blossom cheesecake is topped with matcha sable, topped with cherry red bean paste, cherry blossom-flavored cream cheese, and strawberries, and also uses locally grown lemon. We also prepared chiffon sandwiches, roll cakes, and long-lasting pound cakes decorated with salted cherry blossom petals.
Mika Hiraki (37 years old), who planned the cake, said, ''It's a feast for the eyes and the taste.Cherry blossoms in Maizuru bloom later than in urban areas, so I'd be happy if people could feel the spring early with this cherry blossom cake.''
They are sold at the confectionery workshop in the park on weekends and holidays, and at the restaurant on weekdays until mid-April. Cheesecake is 560 yen, roll cake is 380 yen, chiffon sandwich is 450 yen, and pound cake is 320 yen. Closed on Tuesdays.
