■Kyoto Botanical Garden (Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City)
The garden, which celebrated its 100th anniversary this year, grows approximately 200 varieties of cherry blossoms. During the 2019 illumination, the cherry blossoms in full bloom appeared in the dusk, illuminated by soft light. The illumination will continue until April 7th in 2024.
■Maruyama Park (Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City)
At Maruyama Park, which is designated as a national scenic spot, the symbol, commonly known as the "Gion weeping cherry tree," is in full bloom. A bright pink color stands out against the backdrop of the city.
■Ninnaji Temple (Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City)
The famous late-blooming cherry blossoms known as ``Omurozakura'' have been designated as a national scenic spot. Viewed from above the temple grounds, a light pink carpet spread out in the spring.
■Kyoto Prefectural Office Former Main Building (Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City)
The former main building of the Kyoto Prefectural Office was completed in 1904 and is an important cultural property of the country. Weeping cherry blossoms were in full bloom in a courtyard surrounded on all sides by a gray roof.
■Nijo Castle (Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City)
In one corner of the vast grounds, there is a ''cherry garden'' filled with colorful cherry blossoms. The roof of Ninomaru Palace was visible in the background.
■Sewari Embankment (Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture)
A 1.4-kilometer long line of Yoshino cherry trees that stretches in an arc. Beyond the pale pink band, I could see the Keiji Bybus and the townscape of the Yamashiro area.
■Cherry blossoms in the tea plantation (Wazuka Town, Kyoto Prefecture)
Wazuka Town in Kyoto Prefecture is known as the main production area for Uji tea. Cherry blossoms in full bloom add color to the backdrop of the tea fields with their deep green geometric patterns.
■Kasagi Campsite (Kasagi Town, Kyoto Prefecture)
With Kasagi Ohashi Bridge in the background, cherry blossoms in full bloom spread out like a carpet.
