The only Amur tiger "Oku" (male) kept at Kyoto City Zoo (Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City) will be transferred to Toyama City Family Park in Toyama Prefecture on May 14, 2024. The Kyoto City Zoo will no longer be breeding tigers due to the cramped environment and the summer heat.

Male Amur tiger "Oku" will be relocated to Toyama City Family Park in Toyama Prefecture in May.

Oku is the second son of three born in June 2010 to a female Aoi and a male Victor (who died in 2012), and is 13 years and 10 months old. The other two tigers have already moved to other zoos, and Aoi died on April 9, leaving Oku as the only tiger at the zoo.

The Oku breeding exhibition will be on display until the morning of May 12th.
