A heart-shaped hydrangea was found again this year at Mimuroto Temple in Uji, Kyoto, a famous spot for hydrangeas. The rainy season finally began in the Kinki region on June 21, 2024. The adorable shape is a delight for tourists.

In addition to the hydrangea garden with 20,000 plants, Mimuroto Temple also has hydrangeas on the approach to the temple and near the main hall. Although they are usually spherical, the heart shape is said to be "a coincidence seen in the growth process" (Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Gardens), and the shape often changes within a few days.
Since a man who runs a tea shop in the temple grounds "discovered" it in 2010, it has become a hot topic on social networking sites (SNS), with people saying that it has the power to help people find love. Tourists can be seen searching for it every year.
A housewife (47 years old) from Ritto City, Shiga Prefecture said, "I had heard that there were heart-shaped hydrangeas, but I never thought I would see one here. It's so cute."
