Construction of the floats for the Gion Festival's Ato Matsuri began in the center of Kyoto City on July 18, 2024. Under the strong sunlight, construction workers used the traditional "rope tying" technique to secure the parts and assemble an impressive tower.

Taka-yama (located at Shinmachi Higashi-iru, Sanjo-dori, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City), which is returning to the parade for the third year, started work at around 7:30 a.m. Construction workers carefully assembled the parts brought out from the storehouse. At the intersection of the three pillars, the rope wrapped around them multiple times looks like a butterfly, and passersby took pictures of the refined technique. The work will continue until July 19.

All 11 floats involved in the Ato Matsuri procession (July 24) will be assembled by July 21.
