The Obon festival "Tamba Daimonji Okuribi" in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture, to commemorate ancestors and war dead, was held on the night of August 16, 2024, on Mount Himekami (406 meters above sea level) in Fukuchiyama City. Citizens gazed at the flames of the character "Dai" floating in the summer night and mourned the deceased.

The Okuribi, which has been held since 1952, is co-hosted by the Fukuchiyama City Buddhist Promotion Association and a preservation society made up of local residents.
Prior to the lighting, a memorial service was held at Fukuchiyama City Welfare Hall. A memorial service was also held for the three victims of the 2013 fireworks display that caused an explosion at a street stall, and officials from Fukuchiyama City and the Fukuchiyama Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which were the organizers at the time, also attended.
At 8 p.m., about 8,000 stupas donated by citizens were ignited on a hearth in the mountains. Citizens placed their hands together in front of the red-hot burning character "Dai."
