1年の世相を表す「今年の漢字」に「税」が選ばれた。京都市東山区の清水寺で2023年12月12日、日本漢字能力検定協会（京都市東山区）が発表した。
生活に直結する増税、減税の動向に注目が集まった1年。国民の期待や不安が錯そうし、インボイス制度やふるさと納税にまつわる話題も取りざたされた。「税」が選ばれるのは2014年以来2度目。

It has been a year in which attention has been focused on trends in tax increases and tax cuts that are directly connected to daily life. The people's expectations and concerns seemed to be mixed, and topics related to the invoice system and hometown tax payments were also discussed. This is the second time that "tax" has been selected since 2014.
