As a weather front that had brought heavy rain to the Hokuriku region moved southward, Kyoto City experienced intermittent, moderately heavy rainfall starting in the early hours of August 28, 2026. Around 8:50 a.m., a visible boundary between murky and clear water was observed at the confluence of the Kamo and Takano Rivers—an area near the Kamo Ohashi Bridge locally known as "the Delta." This phenomenon is believed to have resulted from the rain that began overnight and differences in the conditions of the areas through which the two rivers flow.
