On August 6, 2025, the traditional "Nagoshi Shinto Ritual," a ritual held on the eve of the beginning of autumn, was held at Shimogamo Shrine, a World Heritage Site in Kyoto's Sakyo Ward. In the darkness of dusk, men competed to grab 50 igushi (sacred arrows) that had been placed in the shrine's Mitarashi Pond, creating splashes of water, in a ritual called "Yatori Shinto Ritual," praying for good health and safety.
