芸妓・舞妓や子ども神輿（みこし）など約千人の花傘巡行が2026年7月24日、京都市中心部から八坂神社（京都市東山区）まで歩いた。八坂神社では4花街が舞踊を奉納。祇園甲部は「舌切り雀」に取材した「雀踊」を披露した。

On July 24, 2026, a "flower umbrella procession" (hanagasa junko) comprising approximately 1,000 participants—including geisha, maiko, and children carrying portable shrines—marched from central Kyoto to Yasaka Shrine in the city's Higashiyama Ward. At the shrine, the four *hanamachi* (geisha districts) performed ritual dances; the Gion Kobu district presented the "Suzume Odori" (Sparrow Dance), inspired by the folktale *Shita-kiri Suzume* (The Tongue-Cut Sparrow).
