At the Keage Water Purification Plant in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, the azaleas will be open to the public from April 25th to 27th, 2025. On the warm and sunny April 26th, many tourists and families came to enjoy the colorful flowers.

The Kyoto City Waterworks Bureau holds this event every year to promote understanding of the waterworks. A total of about 4,900 azaleas of six different varieties, including purple azaleas, Kirishima azaleas, and Japanese azaleas, have been planted on the premises to prevent collapse.

According to the Waterworks Bureau, the azaleas are blooming later than usual this year, and are "just one step away" from full bloom. The azaleas will be open to the public until April 27th. 9am - 4pm. Free admission.
