On June 21, 2025, local residents conducted a cleanup at Nohara Beach in Nohara, Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture, ahead of the beach opening on July 1. Sweat drenched in sweat, participants picked up driftwood and plastic containers that had washed up on the beach.

Nohara Beach is located in the Nohara district of the Oura Peninsula, which juts out into Wakasa Bay. Previously, local residents would clean up the beach before it opened, but due to an aging population and labor shortages, Maizuru City and the Maizuru Tourism Association have been hosting the event since last year.

About 100 local residents and volunteers gathered. They collected trash from the beach and embankments, raked up driftwood, and stuffed it into garbage bags.
