Biovortex Kyoto (Higashikujo, Minami Ward, Kyoto City), a permanent sound and light museum created by the digital art collective teamLab, opened on October 7, 2025. It marks the addition of a new cultural and artistic hub to the southeastern Kyoto Station area.

Biovortex means "vortex of life" in English. The approximately 10,000-square-meter venue houses 50 artworks, making it the largest teamLab facility in Japan.
The museum offers an immersive experience where visitors are immersed in a world of continuously moving bubbles and spheres. TeamLab CEO Toshiyuki Inoko said, "The artworks relate to each other, and we have sought to create a world that is continuous without boundaries. This is a place where you can sense the possibilities of new existence and expand your perception. It is the experience that will broaden your world. We hope many people will come."
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Kyoto Mayor Matsui Koji and the chairman of the local Sanno School District Self-Governing Association, who celebrated the completion. When it opened at 9am, many tourists from Japan and abroad flocked to the museum.
Reservations are required to enter the permanent museum. Applications can be made on the website approximately two months in advance.
