The "Shiroika (White Squid) Festival 2026 in Amino" was held on July 19, 2026, at Asamogawa Fishing Port in Amino-cho, Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture, offering a chance to enjoy the seasonal white squid. The event bustled with fishing enthusiasts and local residents, featuring food stalls, hands-on activities, and the exhibition and sale of fishing gear.
The festival was launched last year by the Amino Recreational Fishing Boat Fleet—a group of charter boat operators based at Asamogawa Fishing Port—with the aim of promoting the port and revitalizing the local area.
Local food vendors and fishing tackle manufacturers set up stalls at the venue. Long lines formed when *nigiri* sushi made with white squid and tuna landed at Asamogawa Fishing Port was served, and visitors delighted in the taste of the fresh seafood.
Other attractions included cruises to enjoy the waters off Amino and a contest where participants competed to see who could throw a squid-shaped doll the farthest. In the evening, an offshore squid fishing tournament was held, with approximately 140 participants competing for the best catch.
