On the morning of January 25, 2023, the day after a heavy snowfall, the Kinkaku-ji Temple, known as the Golden Pavilion and formerly Rokuon-ji Temple, in Kita Ward, Kyoto, was covered with snow.

As the dawn sky lightened around the temple, the Golden Pavilion decorated with gold leaf began to shine. The second and third layers of the Golden Pavilion's roofs were covered with snow and the vivid contrast of gold and white reflected the morning sun. The image of the Golden Pavilion was also mirrored in Kyoko-chi Pond on the south side also added to its beauty.
