On October 4, Nihon Michelin Tire, based in Tokyo, announced the restaurants listed in "Michelin Guide Kyoto Osaka 2023" a rating book for restaurants. Six restaurants in Kyoto that serve Japanese cuisine received three stars, the highest rating.
This issue marks the 14th anniversary of the publication of the guide for Kyoto and Osaka areas and 196 restaurants from Kyoto have been selected. Nineteen of those are new listings.
The six three-star restaurants are the same as last year. They are Hyotei (Sakyo Ward), Isshi Souden Nakamura (Nakagyo Ward), Gion Sasaki (Higashiyama Ward), Kikunoi Honten (Higashiyama Ward), Maeda (Higashiyama Ward), and Mizai (Higashiyama Ward). Hyotei and Kikunoi have maintained their three-star rating for 14 consecutive years since the first edition.
