The Kyoto Local Meteorological Observatory explained that warm air continued to flow toward a low-pressure system and a front over the Sea of ​​Japan; combined with the effects of solar radiation, this caused temperatures to rise. By 11:50 a.m., the temperature in Kyoto had reached 30.5°C—more than 7°C above the seasonal average.
Previously, the latest date for a midsummer day in Kyoto had been October 14, 2025.
