"Kitayama Yuzen Chrysanthemum" is in full bloom in the Kuta area of Sakyo Ward, which is located at the northernmost tip of Kyoto City. Light purple flowers spread like a carpet against the background of thatched roof houses, coloring the scenery of the mountain village.

Kitayama Yuzen Chrysanthemum is a nickname for Chosenyomena. Local residents improved the strain that grew wild in the area and named it, and started cultivating it in 1997.
It bloomed in early July, and currently about 400,000 trees are in full bloom at three locations in the area, with a total of 65 ares. In the field in front of a thatched private house, a tourist took a photo of a flower about five centimeters in diameter swaying in the wind.
For a fee (500 yen), you can also enter the field and pick. Osamu Tsunemoto, 68, who cultivates the plant, said, "The scenery becomes even more beautiful in the morning when it's foggy. I think people will feel cool even in the heat."
The best time to see them is until early August.
