On August 11, 2023, the annual summer Shimogamo Noryo Secondhand Book Festival began at Shimogamo Shrine's Tadasu no Mori forest in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto. From the first day, many book-lovers visited the store and eagerly searched for the items they were looking for.

This is the 36th event sponsored by the Kyoto Antiquarian Book Research Group, which is organized by antiquarian bookstores in Kyoto Prefecture. About 800,000 items, including novels, academic books, manga, and CDs, were exhibited at 26 stores in the Kansai region.
At the venue, each store had its own booth, and visitors fanned themselves with fans while reading and deciding on the items. A 37-year-old office worker from Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, who visited with his family of three, said, "I'm grateful to be able to buy children's picture books at a low price. It's a very nice atmosphere in the sunlight filtering through the trees."
The event will be held until August 16th. 10:00 am to 5:30 pm (4:00 pm on the last day).
