Water will be sprayed all at once on December 1, 2023 at Kayabuki-no-Sato, a nationally important traditional building preservation district in Miyama-cho, Nantan City, Kyoto Prefecture, and advance reservations for parking spaces have begun. The purpose is to curb the excessive influx of tourists. It was introduced during the last water discharge in May, and there were no noticeable disruptions. We aim to establish a system and achieve harmony between local life and tourism promotion.

The simultaneous water spray will be carried out for about seven minutes starting at 1:30 p.m. on December 1st for the purpose of fire prevention. Applications began on September 4th through the reservation form on the Kyoto Miyama Navi website. Parking fees are 1,500 yen (usually 500 yen) for regular cars and jumbo taxis, of which there are 160 spaces, and 500 yen (usually 200 yen) for about 30 motorcycles. Fees must be paid in advance by bank transfer.
The reservation system was introduced in May in response to past traffic jams caused by an influx of tourists. At that time, it was about a month before the start of accepting applications, and the travel agency was not included in the tour, so there were no reservations for the large bus. Some regular vehicles came without knowing about the reservation system. This time, we will accept applications early to ensure that everyone is well-known, which will lead to smoother operations.
