On September 17, 2023, the ''Tango 100km Ultra Marathon'' and ''Yosano Mt. Oe Mountain Climbing Marathon'', which run through the nature of Kyoto's Tango region, were held in Kyotango City and Yosano Town, Kyoto Prefecture. Many runners competed to show their strength.
The ultramarathon, sponsored by an executive committee made up of Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture, the Kyotango City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and others, was held for the 21st time, with a total of 2,232 people participating in the 100km and 60km divisions. In the 100km race, runners started at the Amino Sports Center (Amino-cho, Kyotango City) at 4:20 a.m. They ran through the Sea of Japan coast with beautiful scenery such as Byobu Rock and Tateiwa Rock, and through mountains such as Ikari Plateau.
The 16th Oe Mountain Climbing Marathon (sponsored by the Oe Mountain Climb Marathon Executive Committee, co-sponsored by Yosano Town, etc.) includes a 23.5 km course that includes Mt. 829 people participated in the courses. In the 23.5km section, runners ran up the steep mountain trail one after another.
Winning professional mountain runner Ryunosuke Omi (22 years old, Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto City) said with a smile, ''The sun was strong and hot in the first half, but there was a breeze at the top of the mountain, so I was able to conserve my stamina and run well''.
