On October 12, 2023, Nintendo unveiled to the press and others the directly managed store "Nintendo KYOTO" in the Kyoto Takashimaya SC, a commercial complex that will open on October 17 in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City. This is the company's third directly managed store in Japan, and the first in Kyoto. A square design inspired by the "dot" pattern used to draw game characters is incorporated throughout.

The shop is located on the 7th floor of the specialty store zone "T8". The sales floor area is approximately 740 square meters, making it the second largest store after Nintendo Osaka (approximately 800 square meters), which opened in November last year at the Daimaru Umeda store in Kita Ward, Osaka City. Strengthen information dissemination aimed at expanding IP (intellectual property) business that utilizes game characters.

The sales floor will feature approximately 1,500 items, including game consoles such as the Nintendo Switch, software, and merchandise from popular games. We also carry Kyoto limited items such as T-shirts and bags.

On the first floor there is a statue of Mario, who appears in the game, poking out of a clay pipe, and on the rooftop there is also a photo spot with a goal pole with a flag attached.

The first directly managed store is Nintendo Tokyo, which opened in Shibuya, Tokyo in 2019.
