The ''KYOTO TANTAN Long Ride'' event, which involves cycling through northern Kyoto Prefecture, was held on October 15, 2023 for the first time in four years. Participants enjoyed cycling, divided into a 93km ocean course and a 112km forest course.

This is the ninth time the event has been sponsored by an executive committee made up of Kyoto Prefecture and seven cities and towns in northern Kyoto Prefecture. A total of 418 participants, ranging from elementary school students to those in their 70s, departed from the Amanohashidate parking lot (Monju, Miyazu City) at around 6:45 a.m.

The Sea Course, which passes through Kyotango City and Ine Town, allows you to enjoy the scenery of the Sea of Japan, while the Forest Course, which passes through Ayabe City and Fukuchiyama City, has ups and downs with a maximum elevation difference of approximately 400 meters. Rather than competing for time, we pedaled at our own pace while enjoying the scenery.

At rest stops along the course, local foods such as pears and heshiko bread were served to cheer up the participants.
A 66-year-old man who completed the sea course said with a smile, ''The scenery along the sea was very beautiful, and the turban shell rice I ate along the way was delicious.''
