In line with the extended opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa and Tsuruga in March 2024, an event called "Fukui is Interesting Now! in Kyoto" will be held on December 23rd at JR Kyoto in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City to promote the charm of Fukui Prefecture. It started at the station. There were exhibits related to the ''Dinosaur Kingdom'' and local gourmet food for sale, and the event was crowded with families.
It was planned by the prefecture to attract visitors from the Kansai region, including Kyoto.
At the venue, a large balloon of the carnivorous dinosaur "Fukuiraptor" excavated in the prefecture and a replica of the skull of a Tyrannosaurus rex will be on display. The children looked at the impressive life-size figure with excitement.
Special products such as grilled mackerel sushi, habutae mochi, and mizu yokan were sold, and there was also a corner where children could pretend to be train conductors, try on uniforms, and take commemorative photos, which was a great success.
A 76-year-old woman from Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture, who stopped by on her way home from work, said with a smile, ''My grandson loves dinosaurs, so I'd like to take the Hokuriku Shinkansen to Fukui again.''

Construction has not started on the route west of Tsuruga that passes through Kyoto Prefecture, so even after the extension opens, you will still need to take a limited express train from Kyoto Station to Fukui Station.
