On January 8, 2024, when the first snow fell in Kyoto City, Kinkakuji Temple, a world heritage site in Kita Ward, Kyoto City, was also covered in snow.

With occasional snow falling, more than 200 tourists, including families and couples, formed a line more than 50 meters long before the gates opened at 9 a.m. A staff member at Kinkakuji Temple guided the visitors, saying things like, ''There's not much snow, but you should still be able to see snow for about 30 minutes.''
As soon as the gates opened, impatient tourists quickly made their way to Kinkaku-ji Temple, saying things like ''It's my first time to see Kinkaku-ji Temple in the snow,'' as they took in the sight of the golden main shrine covered in white snow, a scene unique to midwinter.
