The ''Hatsuike ceremony'' of Ikenobo, a flower arranging school to celebrate the new year, was held on January 5, 2024 at the Iemoto Dojo in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City. Approximately 750 disciples gathered from all over the country, excluding Ishikawa and Toyama prefectures, which were hit hard by the Noto Peninsula earthquake, and vowed to devote themselves to the year and arranged flowers.

At the Iemoto Dojo, 34 young people wearing long-sleeved kimonos, haori, and hakamas visited the Rokkaku-do temple and performed their first sacrifice. The next head of Ikenobo, a specialist in Ikenobo, went around talking to each person one by one as they carefully assembled seasonal flowers such as plums and nandina with roses and tulips. Ichikoto, a 19-year-old maiko from Pontocho, arranged roses, daisies, and red willows, and she said, ''I put my thoughts into giving some peace to those affected by the disaster.''

Ikenobo Senko's next head master created a piece titled ''Hope'' using pine trees, white plums, and red roses. He expressed his wish, ''I hope that people can feel hope from the sight of plants and trees that are trying their best to survive even in difficult circumstances.''
