An event where a formation of light-emitting drones will draw various shapes will be held at Heian Shrine in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. The event is being organized by Kyoto Racecourse to liven up the Takarazuka Kinen (June 23rd), which will be held at the Japan Racing Association (JRA) Kyoto Racecourse (Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City) for the first time in 18 years. A preview was held on June 12th, 2024, where horses galloping in the night sky were seen.

500 drones create an image of a galloping horse above the Otenmon Gate of Heian Shrine (on the night of June 12th, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City)

As the darkness fell on the surroundings, 500 drones equipped with light-emitting diode (LED) lights took off all at once above the illuminated Otenmon Gate of Heian Shrine. The formations flying in the sky changed color and shape to the music, drawing images of Pegasus, fireworks, horses, and more.

The drone show will be performed for 10 minutes at 7:30 pm and 8:45 pm from June 13th to 15th. A viewing area will be set up in the adjacent Okazaki Park. Free of charge.
