Students lie down on blue tarps in the schoolyard of an old elementary school and watch the meteor shower. University students studying space give explanations to the children. An overnight summer night camp like this was held at the old Nishimotoume Elementary School in Sonobe-cho, Nantan City, Kyoto Prefecture.

The event was organized by the "Space Camp Group," made up of students from the Faculty of Science at Kwansei Gakuin University. Representative Naiki Kitatsugu (21 years old) planned it for the first time, hoping to "provide an opportunity for elementary and junior high school students to become interested in space," and five families from inside and outside Nantan City came along.
Late at night on August 12th, the "peak night" when the Perseid meteor shower is most common, shooting stars could be seen every few minutes when looking up at the night sky from the schoolyard. Some children made wishes, such as "I hope I get more pocket money."
