Tango Prefectural Sea and Star View Park in Satonami, Miyazu City, Kyoto Prefecture, has been temporarily closed until September 12th after bear tracks were found in the park. This is the second time this year that the park has been closed due to bear sightings. Staff have stepped up patrols and are urging people planning to use the park to be vigilant.
According to the park's director, when staff arrived at work on the morning of September 10th, they discovered traces of a chestnut tree in the park that had been eaten by a bear. Bear tracks have also been confirmed in the surrounding areas, so the park was closed for three days. A staff member reported seeing a bear-like animal around 9pm on September 10th when he was leaving work.
The park was also temporarily closed in late August after visitors reported seeing a bear. The director said, "Please be careful, such as not walking alone in the park and carrying anything that makes noise."
