The Kyoto Bread Festival, where Kyoto bakeries and hotels sell their specialty breads, began on September 28, 2024 at Kamigamo Shrine in Kita-ku, Kyoto City. A wide variety of carefully selected products from various stores were lined up, and the event was crowded with bread-loving visitors.
The Kyoto Shimbun newspaper and Kamigamo Shrine have been holding the event since 2015, and this is the eighth time it has been held, in order to promote the food culture of Kyoto, where bread consumption is high nationwide, from the World Heritage Site.
23 stores, including popular bakeries and luxury hotels, mainly in Kyoto Prefecture, set up stalls. Each store sold items that were made with ingenuity in ingredients and manufacturing methods, such as familiar items such as bread and croissants, as well as bread made with figs from Joyo City and cutlet sandwiches made with domestic beef. Customers waiting to buy the products they wanted formed long lines in front of the stores.
