The 22nd Kyoto Student Festival was held on October 13, 2024, in the area around Heian Shrine and Okazaki Promenade in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. Blessed by clear autumn skies, students danced powerfully in colorful costumes and flags on the creative dance stage.
This year's theme was "Connecting the Path, Building the Future." On the main stage, a contest was held for the festival's original creative dance, "Kyoen Sodefure!", which incorporated a Kyoto feel into the costumes and choreography. Eleven teams of university students from Kyoto Prefecture each performed colorful dances themed on the legend of Hagoromo and the scenery of Kyoto.
There was also a band performance contest, dance performances by university students from all over the country, including Hokkaido and Osaka, and drum and marching performances.
Stalls selling curry and rice bowls were also set up by cooking and agricultural clubs. Families and tourists from overseas who visited enjoyed the lively festival atmosphere.
