On the evening of October 30, 2024, Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City hosted a drone show and light-up event in hopes of eradicating breast cancer. More than 350 drones drew pink ribbons, the campaign symbol, in the night sky, calling attention to the importance of early detection and appropriate treatment of breast cancer from above the ancient capital.

The lights were turned on at 6:45 p.m., when the weather started to get cold, and the main hall was illuminated in pink. The drones took to the skies one after another, flying in orderly formation for about 10 minutes, expressing pink ribbons and heart marks. The message "Towards a world without breast cancer" was floated in the night sky in both Japanese and English.

The event was held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Month in October by cosmetics manufacturer Estee Lauder Companies in cooperation with Kiyomizu-dera Temple. A memorial service was also held in the main hall, where the lights were turned on, to pay tribute to those who have died from breast cancer and those who are currently battling the disease.
