The autumn leaves are at their peak at Momiji-en, which is open to the public at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine in Kamigyo Ward, Kyoto City. As the leaves changed colour late this year, the opening period has been extended until December 15th, allowing visitors to enjoy the vestiges of autumn as they walk among the red, yellow and orange trees.

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine's Momiji-en is located at Odoi, a historic site built in 1591 and associated with Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and is home to around 350 maple trees. The garden is lit up after sunset, creating a fantastical glow with the coloured trees.

The garden is open to the public from 9am to 8pm until December 15th (last admission at 7:40pm). Admission is charged.
